Winter Horseback Riding

Steamboat values it’s western heritage that stems from the pioneer cowboys who settled the Yampa Valley in the late 1800’s. It’s no surprise that cowboys and cowgirls around town use their ranches to provide guests with activities like horseback riding, sleigh rides, and other winter time outdoor excursions.

Winter horseback rides are an experience like no other—slow falling gently down as you and your four-legged partner in crime blaze the trails. Expansive views of Hahn’s Peak, Steamboat Mountain, and the Zirkel Wilderness make for a gorgeous backdrop. So, hit the trails with one of these trusted family ranches!

Del’s Triangle 3 Ranch

For 6 generations, the Heid family has been riding horses through the Mt. Zirkel Wilderness area. They offer a variety of services to Del’s Triangle 3 visitors, from trail rides to hunting pack trips. These folks know the area well and will take you for a wild ride through the champagne powder. So take a break from skiing and head on out to beautiful Clark, Colorado for a real western adventure!

Del’s Triangle offers a two hour winter ride through the snow. Jump in the saddle and let your surefooted horse guide you through the snow-covered aspens. If you are lucky, you might even see some wildlife! Elk, deer, and moose are plentiful up in the Clark backcountry, so keep your eyes peeled. Listen to the history and stories of the ranch through the generations. These rides are $80 per rider and Del’s offers free shuttle pick up and drop off!

What should you wear? It’s recommended that you bundle up in your ski gear and snow boots. That way you stay warm and cozy! Kiddos who are coming to ride must be 6 years and older as they will ride their own horse. No doubling up allowed for horse and rider safety!
