Whether you’re looking to drive to the mountain for a day on the slopes or you’re looking to head into town to enjoy all that Main and Yampa have to offer – there are many parking options that will surely fit into your plans.
There are 3 free parking lots located near the base of Steamboat Resort. The Upper Knoll lot and the Lower Knoll lot are both within walking distance of Gondola Square. A quick 5-6 minute walk along Mt. Werner Circle up to the Gondola and you’re ready for a day on the mountain. These lots fill up fast, so be prepared to get there early! Meadows Parking is located further down hill off of Pine Grove Road. This is a large lot that offers a free shuttle stop across the street. Gear up, get to the shuttle and take a 5-7 minute ride straight to Gondola Square. Click here for a map of the free parking lots!
Paying for parking at Steamboat Resort is around $15 per day, but can definitely be worth it! Gondola Square garage is just a few steps away from the Gondola and offers a covered parking option. The second garage is located a short 3-5 minute walk from Gondola Square just down the hill. The third pay for parking lot is located just below the Christie II lift. This lot will allow you to simply walk on to the slopes to start your day.
Drop Off & Pick Up
If you need to simply drop the kids or the group off for the day, instead of parking, Steamboat offers a quick drop off/pick up area just to the right of the shuttle lanes. Take Mt. Werner Circle toward the base and follow the signs!
There is plenty of parking on, near and around Main Street – just ensure to check for restrictions. Parallel parking spots along Main as well as the back-in diagonal spots along side streets are normally restricted to 2-3 hour limits. There are several larger lots located behind City Hall as well as across the 5th avenue bridge at Howelsen Hill and Rodeo Grounds, with minimal restrictions. You can normally park all day in these larger lots. Unfortunately you’re unable to park downtown in these spaces overnight in winter months, and there aren’t many options for parking overnight during summer months due to events. Our best advice to you when parking downtown, just check the signs!
